One Serve at a Time

2026 is a new year with new opportunities to continue to make a positive difference in the lives of South Florida’s youth. We are taking aggressive steps to expand our tennis programs in underserved communities. Our motto, “It’s All About The Kids!” means a lot to us because we are very serious about what we do – helping kids achieve life success!

A former NJTL instructor, lifelong tennis player. First Serve Miami’s mission to teach tennis, school, and life skills to kids is a great doing!

Tennis has shaped my life and opened opportunities that I may not have had otherwise. I am honored to support First Serve Miami as it creates those same opportunities for the next generation — helping young people grow and succeed both on and off the court through sport, mentorship and community.

It only takes one person to make a lasting difference in a child’s life. First Serve Miami is that beacon of hope, paving the path to opportunity and possibilities for children who might otherwise never have the chance.

I've sat courtside and watched First Serve work its magic — and there is no other way to describe it. Kids who walk in guarded and uncertain walk out standing taller, competing harder, and dreaming bigger. I've spent my career believing that access to opportunity is everything, and First Serve embodies that belief in the most powerful way I've ever seen. Tennis is the hook — but what First Serve is really delivering is a roadmap for life: the discipline to practice when it's hard, the resilience to lose and come back, and the confidence to believe you belong. These are the skills that open doors, and First Serve is putting them in the hands of kids who deserve every door that's out there.

Children are pure and the seeds from which our society can grow from. FSM is what life is all about in providing opportunities for kids to blossom into strong adults by using the life skills from Tennis and other activities FSM provides.

It has been an honor to be part of First Serve Miami. Over the years, I have seen how James and Angie have led the team to impact more kids through more parks and schools. The number of successes keeps multiplying, bringing more support from generous donors and communities. It has been a beautiful journey that I am sure will continue to expand for many years.

First Serve Miami is deeply meaningful to my family and I because it represents our community coming together to make a difference in the lives of South Florida children. Our organization uses tennis as a pathway for education, character development and confidence for children. Discipline, hard work and resilience are just a few things that First Serve teaches our children. I love to see our children grow into strong and capable leaders both in and off the tennis court. Like our President says: “It’s all about the kids!”

Leadership defines the success of any organization designed to support the community it serves. It’s all about the kids and young adults becoming successful members of society. Well, they can’t do it alone and that’s where I fit in as a member of a large family with limited resources he had to make do. Members of the community helped to mentor us by providing opportunities to be success in life. Now it’s my turn to help as many people as possible to do great things. That’s why my family and I support First Serve Miami (FSM). I admire the service they provide. I’m committed to supporting it in anyway I can.

It is an undeniable blessing when one succeeds at fulfilling one's dream. For some, attaining that goal can be insurmountable because of financial challenges. Aside from financial challenges, there are sometimes other barriers, such as a lack of access to mentors, and the psychological pressures that many at-risk youth face on a daily basis. The First Serve Miami programs are designed to address these barriers on multiple levels. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve on this board in the company of so many outstanding individuals who share the same goals and vision for the present and the future of the children of Miami.

What I always say, “It’s All About The Kids!” That’s why I have been committed to serving on the First Serve Miami board for over 15 years.

I have been involved in First Serve Miami for 20 years (a board member for about 3 years). I have had the privilege of hitting with some of the children in the program over the last 20 years. I have seen the positive impact first hand on how First Serve Miami programs for underserved youth helps thousands of children to stay active while also supporting their education. First Serve Miami helps young people build confidence, stay in school, and create better opportunities for their future.

First Serve Miami is an organization that I value and respect because it really helps the youth of Miami achieve in athletics and in life. I am honored to serve as a Board Member of this dynamic organization. It makes me proud to be a member of First Serve Miami’s Board of Directors.

As the oldest Board Member of First Serve Miami and its past Board Chair, I am so blessed to continue the work that is necessary to support our Adopt-A-Players. It’s very rewarding to watch our kids grow, develop, and become successful in life. We say, “It’s All About The Kids,” because they are our future leaders.

It’s a pleasure being a part of an outstanding organization as a First Serve Miami Board Member. I have watched many young Adopt-A-Players reach their life dreams of playing tennis at a collegiate level. Their success brings me much joy and satisfaction, that’s why I continue to give and support First Serve Miami.

It’s a pleasure and an honor to be a part of First Serve Miami. I am committed to this wonderful organization because it actually does support the youth of our community. Our Adopt-A-Player program is successful due to the Board of Directors’ dedication and hard work. I am glad to be a Board Member of FSM.
