Program Description

Location: Ashe Buchholz Tennis Center // Moore Park (Allapatta) 765 Northwest 36 Street, Miami, Florida 33127

Candidates: For individuals with a team-oriented spirit, an eagerness to learn, a strong desire to  help others,
and willingness to learn strategic planning, operations, team work and people management

Responsibilities: During the summer and after school internships will include but not limited to the:

  • Support the academic development and life skills enhancement of minority and disadvantaged youth
  • Help train the program’s youth in tennis and other sports
  • Prepare weekly written progress reports on program activities
  • Meet with FSM’s leadership to engage in developing and implementing program strategies and actions
  • Work with other FSM staff to ensure program success
  • Be available for other adhoc assignments as required
  • Interns will have an opportunity to participate in FSM’s mentoring program
  • Its’ purpose is to provide an opportunity for interns to achieve their personal development through
    an accelerated learning curve in leadership skills
  • Program will also focus on strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, performance management,
    customer service and operations
  • Mentors will include FSM Board Members and Sponsors, as well as its staff
  • At a minimum a high school diploma (some collect is a plus)
  • Understanding how to communicate effectively
  • Strong commitment to community relations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of accomplishments
  • Demonstrated skills in computer use
  • Strong interest in helping others
  • Some knowledge of tennis (actual tennis experience is a plus)
  • A strong desire to learn
  • Afterschool: August to May (Annually)
  • Summer: June and July (Annually)
  • Since FSM is a not-for-profit organization, interns generally work/learn for free. However, some interns receive
    compensation from corporate and/or individual sponsors such as The Garner Foundation and FSM Board Members
  • When compensation is established, the rate of pay varies depending on the skills and experience of the applicant/candidate
